He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 when the blind came to him. 2 And what would make you know that he would purify himself, 3 Or be admonished, so that the admonition might have profited him? 4 As for him who was indifferent, 5 To him you attend; 6 What does it matter to you if he will not become pure (from disbelief, you are only a Messenger, your duty is to convey the Message of Allah). 7 As for him who comes to you striving (after goodness), 8 And hath fear, 9 You neglect. 10 Nay, but verily it is an Admonishment, 11 and whosoever wills, shall remember it. 12 Inscribed in Writs honoured, 13 Exalted and purified, 14 [Carried] by the hands of messenger-angels, 15 noble and pious. 16 Perish Man! How unthankful he is! 17 Of what thing hath He created him? 18 From a (sperm) drop He created him and then determined him, 19 Then maketh the way easy for him, 20 then makes him to die, and buries him, 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again). 22 Yet man declines to do His bidding. 23 Let man reflect on the food he eats. 24 We poured out the rains abundantly, 25 and let the earth to break open 26 how We made the grain to grow, 27 And grapes and clover, 28 And olive and palm trees 29 and burgeoning enclosed gardens 30 And fruits and fodder,- 31 for you and for your herds to delight in. 32 Then when cometh the Deafening Cry 33 on a Day when everyone will [want to] flee from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father, 35 As well as his wife and children. 36 For every one of them on that Day shall be business enough to occupy 37 Some faces will on that Day be bright with happiness, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news (of Paradise). 39 And (many) faces on that day, on them shall be dust, 40 Darkness shall cover them. 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked. 42
