And Yunus was most surely of the apostles. 139 He ran away to the laden ship, 140 He (agreed to) cast lots, and he was among the losers, 141 Then the fish swallowed him, while he was blameworthy. 142 Now had he not been of those that glorify God, 143 he would certainly have remained inside the fish till the Day of Resurrection. 144 ۞ Then We cast him on a bare desert whilst he was sick. 145 And We caused to grow over him a gourd vine. 146 And [then] We sent him [once again] to [his people,] a hundred thousand [souls] or more: 147 and they believed; so We gave them enjoyment for a while. 148 Now ask them (O Muhammad): Hath thy Lord daughters whereas they have sons? 149 Or did We make the angels females, and they witnessed it? 150 Behold, it is one of their fabrications that they say: 151 Allah has begotten; and most surely they are liars. 152 Hath He chosen daughters above sons? 153 Woe to you! How terrible is your Judgment. 154 Then will you not be reminded? 155 Or, do you have a clear authority? 156 Bring your Book, if you speak truly! 157 And they have invented a blood-relationship between Him and the Jinns: but the Jinns know (quite well) that they have indeed to appear (before his Judgment-Seat)! 158 Glorified is Allah! (He is Free) from what they attribute unto Him! 159 all of them except the chosen servants of Allah. 160 Lo! verily, ye and that which ye worship, 161 Can lead (any) into temptation concerning Allah, 162 Except one who is (destined) to burn in Hell. 163 And there is none of us but has an assigned place, 164 And indeed, we are those who line up [for prayer]. 165 And we are they who exalt (Allah)' 166 And there were those who said, 167 Had we but an admonition as had the ancients. 168 "We should certainly have been Servants of Allah, sincere (and devoted)!" 169 They have rejected the Quran. They will soon know the consequences (of their disbelief). 170 Already has Our Word been passed before (this) to our Servants sent (by Us), 171 assuredly they shall be helped, 172 and Our armies shall be the victors. 173 So withdraw from them (O Muhammad) awhile, 174 And watch them and they shall see (the punishment)! 175 Do they, then, [really] wish that Our chastisement be hastened on? 176 But when it descends into the open space before them, evil will be the morning for those who were warned (and heeded not)! 177 Leave them alone for a while, 178 and see; soon they shall see! 179 Exalted be your Lord, the Lord of Glory, above what they attribute to Him, 180 And peace upon the messengers. 181 And praise to Allah, Lord of the worlds. 182
