Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Ha Mim. 1 By the clear Book, 2 behold, We have caused it to be a discourse in the Arabic tongue, so that you might encompass it with your reason. 3 Truly, it is inscribed in the Original Book, in Our keeping; it is sublime and full of wisdom. 4 Can We ignore sending you the Quran just because you are a transgressing people? 5 And how many a Prophet have We sent amongst the men of old. 6 Yet never did a Prophet come to them but they mocked him. 7 Then We destroyed men stronger (in power) than these, and the example of the ancients has passed away (before them). 8 If you ask them: "Who created the heavens and the earth?" they will answer: "The Mighty and All-knowing created them," 9 The One Who made the earth a bed for you, and made roads for you in it, so that you may be guided. 10 And Who sendeth down water from the sky in (due) measure, and We revive a dead land therewith. Even so will ye be brought forth; 11 and who created the pairs, all of them, and appointed for you ships and cattle such as you ride, 12 That you may settle yourselves upon their backs and then remember the favor of your Lord when you have settled upon them and say. "Exalted is He who has subjected this to us, and we could not have [otherwise] subdued it. 13 It is to our Lord that we shall eventually return.” 14 And they allot to Him a portion of His bondmen! Lo! man is verily a mere ingrate. 15
