The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
(On the day) when the sun is made to cease shining, 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 And when the mountains shall made to pass away; 3 And when full-term she-camels are neglected 4 When the wild beasts are herded together (in the human habitations); 5 And when the seas are set on fire, 6 When the souls are sorted out, (being joined, like with like); 7 And when the female infant buried alive is asked 8 for what sin she was slain, 9 When the ledgers are laid open, 10 When the world on High is unveiled; 11 and when Hell is set ablaze, 12 And when the Garden is brought nigh, 13 [then] each soul shall know what it has put forward. 14 No! I swear by the slinkers, 15 the planets that run their course and set, 16 And the night when it departs, 17 And the Dawn as it breathes away the darkness;- 18 That this is in truth the word of an honoured messenger, 19 having power, with the Lord of the Throne secure, 20 Obeyed (by the angels), trustworthy there (in the heavens). 21 And your comrade is not mad. 22 Surely he beheld Him on the clear horizon. 23 And he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) withholds not a knowledge of the unseen. 24 Nor is this the word of a stoned satan. 25 where then are you going? 26 This is merely a reminder to all mankind; 27 For him among you who pleases to go straight. 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Sustainer of all the worlds, wills [to show you that way]. 29
