Man We fashioned from fermented clay dried tingling hard, 26 And the jinn We created before, of intensely hot fire. 27 And [mention, O Muhammad], when your Lord said to the angels, "I will create a human being out of clay from an altered black mud. 28 Then when I have formed him and breathed into him of My Spirit fall down unto him prostrate. 29 So the angels fell prostrate, all of them together 30 Save Iblis. He refused to be among the prostrate. 31 God asked Iblis, "What made you not join the others in prostration?" 32 Iblis replied, "I did not want to prostrate before a human being whom You have created out of mud-moulded clay". 33 The Lord said: "Then get out of here; you are rejected, 34 and there shall be a curse upon you till the Day of Recompense." 35 He said: 'My Lord, reprieve me till the Day they are raised' 36 Said He, 'Thou art among the ones that are respited 37 "Till the Day of the time appointed." 38 Iblis said: "My Lord! In the manner You led me to error, I will make things on earth seem attractive to them and lead all of them to error, 39 Except Thy servants from among them, the devoted ones. 40 [Allah] said, "This is a path [of return] to Me [that is] straight. 41 Surely, you shall have no power over My true servants, except those misguided ones who choose to follow you. 42 Gehenna (Hell) will be the promise for all of them. 43 There are seven gates in it, and to each gate a portion of them has been allotted. 44
