۞ And indeed We bestowed aforetime on Ibrahim (Abraham) his (portion of) guidance, and We were Well-Acquainted with him (as to his Belief in the Oneness of Allah, etc.). 51 when he said unto his father and his people, "What are these images to which you are so intensely devoted?" 52 They replied: 'We found our fathers worshipping them' 53 He said, “Indeed you all – you and your forefathers – were in open error.” 54 They said, "Have you brought us the Truth, or are you one of those who jest?" 55 Abraham replied, "Your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, who created them, and I bear witness to that. 56 And [he added to himself.] "By God, I shall most certainly bring about the downfall of your idols as soon as you have turned your backs and gone away!" 57 Then he reduced them to fragments, all save the chief of them, that haply they might have recourse to it. 58 They said, "Who has done this to our gods? He must indeed be some man of impiety!" 59 They said: "We heard a youth talk about them. He is called Abraham." 60 They said: bring him then before the eyes of the people, haply they may bear witness. 61 They said, "Art thou the one that did this with our gods, O Abraham?" 62 He answered: "Rather it was this supreme one who has done it. So ask them, if they can speak." 63 Then gathered they apart and said: Lo! ye yourselves are the wrong-doers. 64 Thereafter they were made to turn over upon their heads, saying, assuredly thou knowest that they speak not. 65 Abraham said, "So, do you worship something instead of God that can neither benefit you nor harm you? 66 Fie upon you and upon all that you worship beside Allah. Do you have no sense?" 67 They said: "Burn him, and come to the support of your gods, if you are going to do anything." 68 'O Fire' We said, 'be coolness and safety for Abraham' 69 and whereas they sought to do evil unto him, We caused them to suffer the greatest loss: 70 for We saved him and Lot, [his brother's son, by guiding them] to the land which We have blessed for all times to come. 71 And We bestowed upon him Ishaque (Isaac), and (a grandson) Ya'qub (Jacob). Each one We made righteous. 72 And We made them into leaders to guide people in accordance with Our command, and We inspired them to good works, and to establish Prayers and to give Zakah. They worshipped Us alone. 73 We bestowed upon Lot sound judgement and knowledge, and We delivered him from the city that was immersed in foul deeds. They were indeed a wicked people, exceedingly disobedient. 74 and We admitted him into Our mercy; he was of the righteous. 75
