The notables among his people who had refused to believe and who denied the meeting of the Hereafter, and those whom We had endowed with ease and comfort in this life, cried out: "This is no other than a mortal like yourselves who eats what you eat and drinks what you drink. 33 “If you were to obey a human like yourselves, then surely you are losers!” 34 What, does he promise you that when you are dead and turned to dust and bones, you will be brought forth? 35 ۞ Begone, begone, with that which ye are promised! 36 There exists only our present life: we die and we live [but once], and shall never be raised up again. 37 "He is only a man who invents a lie against Allah, but we are not the ones to believe in him!" 38 He said: O my Lord! help me against their calling me a liar. 39 Said Allah, “They will soon wake up at morn, regretting.” 40 So the shriek seized them in truth, and We made them as [plant] stubble. Then away with the wrongdoing people. 41 Then We raised after them other generations. 42 No nation can outstrip its term, nor can it put it back. 43 Then We sent Our Messengers in succession. Yet whenever its Messenger came to a nation they belied him, so We made them follow others, and We made them but as tales, so begone the nation who did not believe! 44 AND THEN We sent forth Moses and his brother Aaron with Our messages and a manifest authority [from Us] 45 To Pharaoh and his nobles who behaved with arrogance, for they were a conceited lot, 46 They said, "Are we to believe in two human beings like ourselves, while their people are subject to us?" 47 So they rejected them and became of those who were destroyed. 48 And We gave Moses the Book, in order that they might be guided. 49 And We made the son of Mary and his mother a portent, and We gave them refuge on a height, a place of flocks and watersprings. 50
