The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
96 verses, revealed in Mecca after T H (Taa Haa) before The Poets (Alshu'araa')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event comes, 1 there is no denying its coming 2 It will abase some and exalt others. 3 When the earth shall be shaken to its depths, 4 and the mountains will crumble 5 So that they become a scattered dust, 6 And you will become divided into three categories. 7 (First) those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 8 And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left? 9 And those who surpassed have indeed excelled. 10 These will be those nearest to Allah. 11 In gardens of bliss [will they dwell] 12 A numerous company from among the first, 13 And a few from those of later times. 14 upon close-wrought couches 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 Round about them shall go youths never altering in age, 17 Cups and decanters, beakers full of sparkling wine, 18 No after-ache will they receive therefrom, nor will they suffer intoxication: 19 And with fruit from that which they choose. 20 And flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 They will have maidens with large, lovely black and white eyes, 22 like pearls preserved in their shells, 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 Therein they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 Except the word peace, peace. 26 And the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 27 They shall recline on high amidst lote trees without thorns 28 And plantains laden with fruit. 29 And a shade ever-spread. 30 near to flowing water 31 And fruit in plenty, 32 Neither ending nor forbidden. 33 And on couches or thrones, raised high. 34 We have indeed developed these women with an excellent development. 35 And made them virgins. 36 Devoted [to their husbands] and of equal age, 37 For those on the right hand; 38

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
