The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ ABOUT WHAT do they [most often] ask one another? 1 About the Great News 2 whereupon they are at variance? 3 Nay, they will come to know! 4 Nay, again, they will come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth a resting place? 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 and We made your sleep a rest, 9 The night a covering, 10 and We made the day for a livelihood. 11 And We have builded over you seven strong heavens. 12 And have made (therein) a shinning lamp (sun). 13 and sent down heavy rains from the clouds 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetables, 15 And orchards full of trees and interlacing boughs. 16 The Day of Judgment will certainly be the final appointment. 17 On that Day when the trumpet shall be sounded, you shall come in droves, 18 And the heavens shall be opened as if there were doors, 19 and the mountains shall be made to vanish, as if they had been a mirage. 20 Surely, Hell lies in wait, 21 A place of resort for the inordinate, 22 They will remain in it for ages. 23 tasting neither coolness nor any drink 24 save boiling water and a stinking fluid -- 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 For indeed they did not look forward to any reckoning, 27 But they belied Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, and that which Our Prophet (Peace be upon him) brought) completely. 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 So taste (the fruit of your deeds). We shall only increase your torment. 30
