He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned (his) back, 1 Because a blind man came to him. 2 And what would make you know that he would purify himself, 3 Or be admonished, and the admonition profit him? 4 As to one who regards Himself as self-sufficient, 5 To him do you address yourself. 6 And you have nothing to lose if he does not become pure. 7 But he who comes to you running, 8 and in awe [of God] 9 Him thou neglectest! 10 No indeed; it is a Reminder 11 (and whoso wills, shall remember it) 12 (It is) in Records held (greatly) in honour (Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz). 13 Exalted and holy, 14 In the hands of scribes 15 Honourable and Virtuous. 16 Be cursed (the disbelieving) man! How ungrateful he is! 17 Out of what did Allah create him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm! He creates and proportions him, 19 then eased his path for him, 20 Then He caused him to die and made him to be buried. 21 then, He will raise him when He wills. 22 Not one – he has not yet completed what he was commanded. 23 Then let mankind look at his food - 24 That We pour forth water in abundance, 25 Then We cleave the earth, cleaving (it) asunder, 26 Then We cause to grow therein the grain, 27 And grapes and herbage, 28 and olives, and palms, 29 and dense orchards, 30 And fruits and Abba (herbage, etc.), 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 When the trumpet sounds, 33 on the Day when each man shall flee from his brother, 34 his mother and his father, 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 For every man, that Day, will be a matter adequate for him. 37 Some faces on that day shall shine 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news (of Paradise). 39 And other faces, on that day, with dust upon them, 40 Darkness will cover them, 41 those will be ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity. 42
