The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sun is folded up, 1 And when the stars fall, dispersing, 2 The mountains made to move, 3 And when the camels big with young are abandoned, 4 the wild beasts are herded together, 5 And when the seas rise, 6 when the souls are coupled (to their body), 7 And when the girl [who was] buried alive is asked 8 for what sin she was killed, 9 And when the pages are made public 10 And when the sky is stripped away 11 when Hell is set ablaze, 12 And when the garden is brought nigh, 13 [then] each soul shall know what it has put forward. 14 I swear by the receding stars. 15 And by the planets that move swiftly and hide themselves, 16 by the night when it approaches 17 And by the dawn when it breathes 18 [That] indeed, the Qur'an is a word [conveyed by] a noble messenger 19 Full of power, well-established with the Lord and Master of the Throne, 20 there he is obeyed and held trustworthy. 21 Nor is your companion distracted. 22 And indeed he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) saw him [Jibrael (Gabriel)] in the clear horizon (towards the east). 23 He is not avid of the Unseen. 24 And the Qur'an is not the word of a devil, expelled [from the heavens]. 25 Where to are you then heading? 26 This is naught but an admonition unto the worlds 27 For the one among you who wishes to become upright. 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Lord of the Universe, so wills it [to show you that way]. 29
