Dawn (Al-Fajr)
30 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Night (Al-Layl) before The Forenoon (Al-Duhaa)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the Dawn, 1 By the Nights twice five; 2 By the even and odd (contrasted); 3 And by the night when it departs. 4 Is there in this an oath for one endowed with understanding? 5 Have you not seen how your Lord dealt with Ad 6 With many-columned Iram, 7 the like of whom no nation was ever created in the lands of the world? 8 And (with) Samood, who hewed out the rocks in the valley, 9 And the mighty Pharaoh 10 [It was they] who transgressed all bounds of equity all over their lands, 11 And multiplied therein corruption. 12 Wherefore thy Lord poured on them the scourge of His torment. 13 Indeed, your Lord is in observation. 14 As for man - when his Lord proveth him and so honoureth him and is bounteous unto him, then he saith: 'my Lord hath honoured me, 15 But when He tests him by restricting his provision, he says: 'My Lord has humiliated me' 16 No. In fact you are not generous to the orphans, 17 Nor do you urge one another to feed the poor, 18 and you greedily devour the inheritance of the weak, 19 And ye love riches with exceeding love. 20 Nay! When the earth is ground to powder, 21 when your Lord comes down with the angels, rank upon rank, 22 and Gehenna (Hell) is brought near on that Day the human will remember, and how shall the Reminder be for him? 23 He will say: "Alas the woe! Would that I had sent ahead something in my life." 24 But on that day shall no one chastise with (anything like) His chastisement, 25 and none can bind with bonds like His! 26 (To the righteous soul will be said:) "O (thou) soul, in (complete) rest and satisfaction! 27 return unto thy Lord, well-pleased, well-pleasing! 28 So enter among My servants, 29 Enter thou My Paradise!' 30
God the Almighty always says the truth.
