And recite to them the story of Ibrahim. 69 when he said to his father and his people, 'What do you serve?' 70 They said: We worship idols, and are ever devoted unto them. 71 'Do they hear you when you call on them' He asked. 72 or do they profit you, or harm?' 73 They said: nay; but we found our fathers doing in this wise. 74 He said: have ye observed that which ye worship 75 “You and your forefathers preceding you.” 76 they are all my enemies, not so the Lord of the Universe, 77 Who created me and showed me the way, 78 "Who gives me food and drink, 79 He who cures me when I am ill; 80 And He Who will cause me to die, then give me life; 81 and who I am eager shall forgive me my offence on the Day of Doom. 82 (And then Abraham prayed): "My Lord, endow me with knowledge and wisdom and join me with the righteous, 83 and grant me an honourable reputation among posterity, 84 And make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Delight. 85 and forgive my father, for he was among the astray. 86 "And let me not be in disgrace on the Day when (men) will be raised up;- 87 The Day whereon neither wealth nor sons will avail, 88 Save him who bringeth unto Allah a whole heart. 89 On the Day of Judgment Paradise will be brought near the pious 90 And the Fierce Fire shall be made apparent unto the seduced ones. 91 And it will be said to them, "Where are those you used to worship 92 apart from God? Do they help you or help themselves?' 93 So they and all the astray were flung into hell. 94 And the soldiers of Iblees, all together. 95 They will say while they dispute therein, 96 By Allah, of a truth we were in error manifest 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of the Universe. 98 And no one misguided us except the criminals. 99 so now we have no intercessors, 100 no caring friend. 101 O that we might return again, and be among the believers!' 102 Surely in that is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 103 And most surely your Lord is the Mighty, the Merciful. 104
