Hath the story of Abraham's honoured guests reached thee (O Muhammad)? 24 When they came to him they said, "Peace!" He answered, "Peace!" [saying to himself]. "They are strangers." 25 Then he turned quietly to his household, and brought forth a fat [roasted] calf, 26 and he laid it before them saying, 'Will you not eat?' 27 He began to feel afraid. They said, "Do not be afraid," and then gave him the glad news of the birth of a knowledgeable son. 28 So hearing his wife went forth shouting. She struck her face and exclaimed: “A barren old woman am I.” 29 'Such, says your Lord' they replied: 'He is the Wise, the Knower' 30 ۞ He said: What is your affair then, O apostles! 31 They said: Surely we are sent to a guilty people, 32 That we may send upon them stones of clay, 33 marked out in thy Sustainer's sight for [the punishment of] such as have wasted their own selves." 34 And in the course of time We brought out [of Lot 's city] such [few] believers as were there: 35 We found in it only one household of true believers -- 36 We left a sign in this for those who fear the grievous punishment, 37 And in Musa: When We sent him to Firon with clear authority. 38 but he turned his back with his Assembly, saying: 'He is (either) a sorcerer or a mad man' 39 So We took him and his forces, and threw them into the sea; and his was the blame. 40 There is another sign in the [tribe of] 'Ad, when We sent against them a life-destroying wind 41 It left nothing of what it came upon but that it made it like disintegrated ruins. 42 In the Thamud [there was another sign], when they were told, "Make the most of your lives for a while." 43 They transgressed against the command of their Lord. So a blast of sound struck them and they were unable to do anything but stare. 44 Then they were unable to rise up, nor could they help themselves. 45 And before them the nation of Noah, indeed they were a debauched nation. 46
