The Mountain (Al-Toor)
49 verses, revealed in Mecca after Prostration (Al-Sajdah) before Kingship (Al-Mulk)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the Mount 1 And the Scripture inscribed 2 on fine parchment; 3 by the established House (Mecca), 4 And the elevated canopy 5 And by the Ocean filled with Swell;- 6 Verily, the Doom of thy Lord will indeed come to pass;- 7 No one can avert it. 8 A day on which the heavens will shake with a visible shaking. 9 And the mountains will fly hither and thither. 10 Woe will be to those who rejected the Truth 11 Those who sport entering into vain discourses. 12 The day they are dragged and pushed into Hell, 13 This is the fire which you used to deny. 14 Is it magic then or do you not see? 15 “Enter it now whether you patiently bear it or are impatient it is the same for you; for you is a recompense only for what you used to do.” 16 Those who fear God and follow the straight path will surely be in gardens and in bliss, 17 Delighted at the bestowal of their Lord; and their Lord has saved them from the fire. 18 "Eat and drink with happiness because of what you used to do." 19 The God-fearing shall be reclining on couches facing each other, and We shall wed them to maidens with large, beautiful eyes. 20 And those who believed and whose descendants followed them in faith - We will join with them their descendants, and We will not deprive them of anything of their deeds. Every person, for what he earned, is retained. 21 And We shall succour them with fruits and flesh such as they desire 22 In it, they accept cups from each other, in which is neither any lewdness nor any sin. 23 ۞ Round about them will serve, (devoted) to them, young male servants (handsome) as Pearls well-guarded. 24 They advance one upon another, asking each other questions. 25 They will say: “When we were living before among our kinsfolk we lived in constant fear (of Allah's displeasure). 26 and God was gracious to us, and guarded us against the chastisement of the burning wind; 27 we were before ever calling upon Him; surely He is the All-benign, the All-compassionate.' 28
