The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ What are they asking each other about? 1 Of the mighty tiding 2 Concerning which they are in disagreement. 3 By no means! anon they shall know. 4 They will indeed come to know soon. 5 Did We not make the earth a bed? 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 and We appointed your sleep for a rest; 9 and made the night a covering, 10 And We have made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We built above you seven strong ones, 12 And We made a shining lamp, 13 And then sent down hard rain from the water bearing clouds. 14 so that We might bring forth thereby grain, and herbs, 15 and thick gardens grow? 16 Verily, the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 On that day the trumpet will be sounded and you will come (to Us) in huge groups. 18 And the heaven shall be opened, and it will become as gates, 19 And the mountains are removed and will be [but] a mirage. 20 Lo! hell lurketh in ambush, 21 The rebels' abode, 22 They will dwell therein for ages. 23 They will not feel cold nor taste any drink 24 except boiling water and pus, 25 Reward proportioned (to their evil deeds). 26 They were those who did not expect a reckoning, 27 And denied Our verses with [emphatic] denial. 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 'Taste! We shall not increase you except in punishment' 30
