And convey unto them the story of Abraham 69 When he said unto his father and his people: what worship ye? 70 They replied, "We worship idols and shall continue to worship them". 71 He said: Do they hear you when you call? 72 'Can they benefit you or harm you' 73 They said, "No, but our fathers worshipped them." 74 Thereupon, Abraham said: "Have you seen (with your eyes) those whom you have been worshipping, 75 You and your ancient sires. 76 Lo! they are (all) an enemy unto me, save the Lord of the Worlds, 77 who created me, and Himself guides me, 78 And Who feedeth me and watereth me. 79 And when I sicken, then He healeth me, 80 "Who will cause me to die, and then to life (again); 81 and whom I am eager shall forgive me my sins on the Day of Recompense' 82 "O my Sustainer! Endow me with the ability to judge [between right and wrong,] and make me one with the righteous, 83 and grant me the power to convey the truth unto those who will come after me, 84 And make me of the heirs of the garden of bliss 85 And forgive my father, for surely he is of those who have gone astray; 86 and do not put me to shame on the Day when all shall be raised from the dead: 87 The Day when neither wealth nor sons shall benefit 88 except what is done in obedience to God with a submissive heart. 89 And the Garden shall be brought nigh to the God-fearing. 90 And Hell made visible to those who had gone astray. 91 they will be asked, "Where are those whom you worshipped 92 beside Allah? Can they be of any help to you, or even be of any help to themselves?" 93 Then the idols and those who strayed will be hurled into the Fire headlong, one upon another, 94 and the hosts of iblis all together. 95 There they will quarrel with one another and the erring ones will say (to their deities): 96 By Allah, of a truth we were in error manifest 97 "'When we held you as equals with the Lord of the Worlds; 98 It is none but those steeped in guilt who led us into this error, 99 and we have no intercessors now, 100 Nor any loving friend. 101 Would that we had a second chance [in life,] so that we could be among the believers!" 102 Indeed in this is a sign; and most of them were not believers. 103 And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful. 104

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
