The Arrangers (Al-Saaffaat)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By oath of those who establish proper ranks. 1 By the angels driving away. 2 And by oath of the groups that read the Qur’an. 3 Verily your Ilah (God) is indeed One (i.e. Allah); 4 Lord of the heavens and of the earth and all that is between them, and Lord of the sun's risings. 5 Verily We! We have adorned the nearest heaven with an adornment: the stars. 6 and have protected it from every rebellious satan. 7 (So) they should not strain their ears in the direction of the Exalted Assembly but be cast away from every side, 8 and are repelled. Theirs is an unceasing chastisement. 9 Some of them who stealthily steal words from the heavens are pursued by a glistening flame. 10 Then inquire of them, [O Muhammad], "Are they a stronger [or more difficult] creation or those [others] We have created?" Indeed, We created men from sticky clay. 11 Nay! you wonder while they mock, 12 And they do not understand, when explained to. 13 And when they see a sign they incite one another to scoff, 14 and say: “This is nothing but plain sorcery. 15 Why - after we have died and become mere dust and bones, shall we, forsooth, be raised from the dead? 16 Will our forefathers also be brought to life again?" 17 Proclaim, “Yes, and with disgrace.” 18 So that is just a single jolt, thereupon they will begin staring. 19 They will say: "Woe to us! This is the Day of Recompense!" 20 (A voice will say,) "This is the Day of Sorting Out, whose truth ye (once) denied!" 21
