Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); 1 [Some] faces, that Day, will be humbled, 2 Laboring, toiling, 3 They will enter in the hot blazing Fire, 4 They will be given to drink from a boiling spring, 5 No food shall be theirs save bitter thorn, 6 Neither nourishing nor banishing hunger. 7 In that day other faces will be calm, 8 Rejoicing over their efforts. 9 In a high Garden. 10 where they will hear no idle talk. 11 In it there shall be a flowing spring, 12 raised couches, 13 And chosen goblets. 14 And cushions lined up 15 And carpets ready spread, 16 So do they not see the camel – how it has been created? 17 And the sky: how it was raised high? 18 And at the mountains, how firmly they are reared? 19 And the earth, how it is made a vast expanse? 20 So render good counsel, for you are simply required to counsel, 21 You are not a watcher over them; 22 But whosoever will turn back and disbelieve 23 God shall chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 Indeed only towards Us is their return 25 Then indeed, upon Us is their account. 26
