Smoke (Al-Dukhaan)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Ha-Mim. 1 By the Book that makes things clear; 2 Surely We revealed it on a blessed night surely We are ever warning-- 3 (We revealed it on the Night) wherein every matter is wisely determined 4 at a behest from Ourselves: for, verily, We have always been sending [Our messages of guidance] 5 A mercy from your Lord. Verily He is all-hearing and all-knowing, 6 He is the Lord of heaven and earth and all that is between them, if only you would really believe, 7 There is no god except He. He revives and causes to die. (He is) your Lord and the Lord of your fathers, the ancients. 8 Yet they play about in doubt. 9 Wait for the day (which will come before the Day of Judgment) when the sky will give out dense smoke 10 Covering the people, this is a painful torment. 11 (People will then say): “Our Lord, remove this scourge from us; we shall believe.” 12 But how will they avail themselves of the Reminder, when a clear Messenger had already come to them 13 Then they had turned away from him (Messenger Muhammad SAW) and said: "One (Muhammad SAW) taught (by a human being), a madman!" 14 If We remove the torment a little, you revert back (to misdeeds). 15 The Day We will strike with the greatest assault, indeed, We will take retribution. 16 ۞ We tried Pharaoh's nation before them. A noble Messenger came to them, 17 saying, 'Deliver to me God's servants; I am for you a faithful Messenger, 18 and, 'Rise not up against God; behold, I come to you with a clear authority, 19 I have taken refuge in my Lord and your Lord against your stoning me to death. 20 But if you do not believe me, then leave me alone." 21 (But they were aggressive), so he [Musa (Moses)] called upon his Lord (saying): "These are indeed the people who are Mujrimun (disbelievers, polytheists, sinners, criminals, etc.)." 22 Then (his Lord commanded): Take away My slaves by night. Lo! ye will be followed, 23 Cross the sea by cutting a path through it. Pharaoh's army will be drowned. 24 How many gardens and fountains did they leave behind, 25 And corn-fields and noble buildings, 26 And the comfort they enjoyed. 27 As such (it was). And We made other people inherit them. 28 The sky nor the earth cried for them, nor were they given respite. 29
