The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Woe to those who give short measure, 1 those who, when they are to receive their due from [other] people, demand that it be given in full 2 But when they have to give by measure or weight to men, give less than due. 3 Do those not think that they shall be raised up 4 for a great Day, 5 A Day when (all) mankind will stand before the Lord of the Worlds? 6 No indeed; the Book of the libertines is in Sijjin; 7 And how would you know what the Record of the prison-house is? 8 A book inscribed. 9 Ah the woe that day for those who deny, 10 Those who deny the Day of Justice. 11 And none belieth it save each trespasser, sinner. 12 When Our communications are recited to him, he says: Stories of those of yore. 13 By no means! Aye! encrusted upon their hearts is that which they have been earning. 14 No! Indeed, from their Lord, that Day, they will be partitioned. 15 Then verily they will be roasted into the Scorch. 16 Then it will be said [to them], "This is what you used to deny." 17 But, the Book of the righteous is in the 'Illiyoon. 18 But how will you comprehend what 'Illiyun is? 19 A record [indelibly] inscribed, 20 witnessed by those brought nigh. 21 The virtuous will surely be in bliss, 22 upon couches gazing; 23 You will recognize in their faces the brightness of bliss. 24 They will be given to drink of pure wine, sealed. 25 its seal will be of musk -- for this let the aspirants aspire -- 26 And it is mixed with Tasneem. 27 A spring from which those near [to Allah] drink. 28 Behold, the wicked were wont to laugh at the believers: 29 and whenever they pass by them, they wink at one another [derisively]; 30 And when they returned to their own people, they would return jesting; 31 and when they saw them said: 'These are they who are astray' 32 No one has appointed them to watch over the believers. 33 So today those who believe shall laugh at the unbelievers; 34 On adorned couches, observing. 35 Will not the Unbelievers have been paid back for what they did? 36
