Then, when the Messengers (the angels) came unto the family of Lout (Lot). 61 he said to them: 'I do not know you' 62 They said: Nay, but we bring thee that concerning which they keep disputing, 63 "Yet we bring to you the truth, and we are truthful. 64 Go, then, with thy household while it is yet night, with thyself following them in the rear; and let none of you look back, but proceed whither you are bidden." 65 And We made plain the case to him, that the root of them (who did wrong) was to be cut at early morn. 66 And the people of the city came rejoicing. 67 He said: "These are my guests, so do not disgrace me. 68 "And do not disgrace me. Have some fear of God." 69 They (people of the city) said: "Did we not forbid you to entertain (or protect) any of the 'Alamin (people, foreigners, strangers, etc. from us)?" 70 Lot exclaimed in exasperation: "If you are bent on doing something, then here are my daughters." 71 By your life, (O Prophet), they went about blindly stumbling in their intoxication. 72 So the shriek seized them at sunrise. 73 And We made the upside there of downwards, and We rained on them stones of baked clay. 74 Herein are really signs for those who discern. 75 it is still there on the highway -- 76 surely in that is a sign for believers. 77 And the companions of the thicket were [also] wrongdoers. 78 So We exacted retribution from them. They were both on an open highway, plain to see. 79
