The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the sky has split [open] 1 And attentive to her Lord in fear, 2 when the earth flattens out, 3 And hath cast out all that was in her, and is empty 4 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must: 5 Thou, verily, O man, art working toward thy Lord a work which thou wilt meet (in His presence). 6 And he who is given his ledger in his right hand 7 He will be judged with an easy account 8 And will return to his people full of joy. 9 But as for those whose Book of records will be given behind their backs, 10 Soon will he cry for perdition, 11 And enter into burning fire. 12 Behold, [in his earthly life] he lived joyfully among people of his own kind 13 thinking he would never revert (to Us). 14 Yea! his Lord had ever been beholding him. 15 So I swear by the twilight glow 16 And by the night and all that it enshroudeth, 17 and the moon when it is at the full, 18 That you shall most certainly enter one state after another. 19 What aileth them, then, that they believe not 20 and when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 No, the unbelievers only belie, 22 and God knows very well what they are secreting. 23 So announce to them a painful punishment~ 24 unless it be such [of them] as [repent, and] attain to faith, and do good works; for theirs shall be a reward unending! 25
