And they ask you, [O Muhammad], about the soul. Say, "The soul is of the affair of my Lord. And mankind have not been given of knowledge except a little." 85 Had We wanted, We could have removed the Spirit through whom We sent you revelation. Then you would not have found anyone to intercede with Us for you 86 except through the special mercy of your Lord. His favours towards you has been great indeed. 87 Say: "If the whole of mankind and Jinns were to gather together to produce the like of this Qur'an, they could not produce the like thereof, even if they backed up each other with help and support. 88 Indeed, We have set forth for mankind in this Koran every kind of parable, yet most people refuse all except disbelief. 89 and so they say: "[O Muhammad,] we shall not believe thee till thou cause a spring to gush forth for us from the earth, 90 or you have a garden of date palms and vines, and cause streams to flow plentifully in the midst of them; 91 or you cause the heavens to fall down on us in pieces, as you have claimed; or you bring God and the angels before us face to face; 92 Or you should have a house of gold, or you should ascend into heaven, and we will not believe in your ascending until you bring down to us a book which we may read. Say: Glory be to my Lord; am I aught but a mortal apostle? 93
