Recite unto them the story of Abraham: 69 He said to his father and to his nation: 'What do you worship' 70 They replied, "We worship idols and shall continue to worship them". 71 He said, "Do they hear you when you supplicate? 72 'Can they benefit you or harm you' 73 They said, “In fact we found our forefathers doing likewise.” 74 Said [Abraham]: "Have you, then, ever considered what it is that you have been worshipping 75 "Ye and your fathers before you?- 76 "Verily! They are enemies to me, save the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists); 77 "Who has created me, and it is He Who guides me; 78 It is He who gives me food and drink 79 and Who, when I am ill, heals me; 80 "Who will cause me to die, and then to life (again); 81 and who I am eager shall forgive me my offence on the Day of Doom. 82 O Lord, give me wisdom and admit me among the righteous, 83 give me a good name among later generations; 84 and make me of those who will inherit the Garden of Bliss, 85 Forgive my father. He has gone astray. 86 And do not disgrace me on the Day they are [all] resurrected - 87 The Day whereon neither wealth nor sons will avail, 88 But only one who comes to Allah with a sound heart." 89 Paradise will be brought near those who take heed for themselves and follow the straight path; 90 "And to those straying in Evil, the Fire will be placed in full view; 91 And it will be said to them, "Where are those you used to worship 92 besides God? Can they help you or even help themselves?" 93 Then they will be thrown headlong into Hell, both they and the misguided ones, 94 And the soldiers of Iblees, all together. 95 They shall say, as they dispute there one with another, 96 "By Allah, we were surely in clear error 97 when we considered you equal to the Lord of the Universe. 98 It was but the guilty who misled us. 99 We have no intercessors now, 100 Nor any sincere friend. 101 “So if only were we to go back, in order to become Muslims!” 102 Verily in this is a Sign but most of them do not believe. 103 surely, your Lord is the Mighty One, the Merciful. 104
