He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 because the blind man approached him! 2 How canst thou know, whether haply he might be cleansed, 3 Or be admonished, so that the admonition might have profited him? 4 As to one who regards Himself as self-sufficient, 5 To him dost thou attend; 6 though you are not to blame if he would not cleanse himself. 7 But as for him who cometh unto thee with earnest purpose 8 and fears (Allah), 9 of him you were unmindful. 10 By no means! Verily it is an admonition. 11 So let whosoever will pay heed to it, 12 upon highly honored pages, 13 Exalted (in dignity), purified, 14 by the hands of the noble, virtuous, 15 Noble and righteous. 16 Cursed is man; how disbelieving is he. 17 From what did He create him? 18 Of a sperm-drop He created him, and determined him, 19 and then made the course of life easy for him, 20 Then gave him death, so had him put in the grave. 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will resurrect him (again). 22 But no. He has not fulfilled what was enjoined on him. 23 Then let man look at his food, 24 It is We Who pour forth water, pouring, 25 Then We split the earth properly. 26 and thereupon We cause grain to grow out of it, 27 And grapes and clover, 28 And Olives and Dates, 29 And enclosed gardens luxuriant. 30 And fruits and Abba (herbage, etc.), 31 for you and for your animals to enjoy. 32 But when the great calamity comes 33 That Day shall a man flee from his own brother, 34 his mother and his father, 35 and from his spouse and his children: 36 on that Day every man among them will have enough concern of his own -- 37 [Some] faces, that Day, will be bright - 38 Laughing and full of joy, 39 Some faces on that Day shall be dust-ridden, 40 enveloped by darkness. 41 those will be ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity. 42
