Al-Taareq
The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By oath of the heaven, and by oath of the nightly arriver. 1 And what shall teach thee what is the night-star? 2 - The piercing Star! 3 There is no human being but has a protector over him (or her) (i.e. angels incharge of each human being guarding him, writing his good and bad deeds, etc.) 4 So let man look - from what is he created. 5 he was created of gushing water 6 that issues from between the loins and the ribs. 7 Surely He (the Creator) has the power to bring him back (to life). 8 On the Day when man's deepest secrets shall be put to the test 9 Then he shall have no power nor any helper. 10 By the sky (having rain clouds) which gives rain, again and again. 11 And the earth which opens up (with verdure), 12 surely it is a decisive word; 13 and it is certainly not a jest. 14 They are hatching up a plot, 15 And I (too) am planning a plan. 16 Therefore respite the unbelievers, and delay them for a while. 17
