Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ The sure calamity! 1 What is the Inevitable? 2 What makes you to know what the Resurrection Verifier is? 3 Thamud and 'Ad people denied the Qari'ah [the striking Hour (of Judgement)]! 4 Now as for the Thamud - they were destroyed by a violent upheaval [of the earth]; 5 And as to Ad, they were destroyed by a roaring, violent blast. 6 Which He made to prevail against them for seven nights and eight days unremittingly, so that you might have seen the people therein prostrate as if they were the trunks of hollow palms. 7 Can you see any remnant of them now? 8 And there was Pharaoh, too, and [many of] those who lived before him, and the cities that were overthrown - [all of them] indulged in sin upon sin 9 They therefore disobeyed the Noble Messengers of their Lord – so He seized them with an intense seizure. 10 And when the waters rose (high) We carried you in the sailing (Ark), 11 That We might make it for you a reminder and [that] a conscious ear would be conscious of it. 12 And when the trumpet shall sound one blast 13 and the earth and the mountains are carried aloft and are crushed to bits at one stroke, 14 Then on that Day shall the (Great) Event befall, 15 And the heaven will split [open], for that Day it is infirm. 16 On its fringes will be angels, eight of them, bearing their Lord's throne aloft. 17 On that day ye will be exposed; not a secret of you will be hidden. 18 Then, he who is given his book in his right hand will say: 'Here, take and read my book! 19 Indeed, I knew that I should come to my reckoning' 20 so he will live in a state of Bliss 21 In a lofty garden, 22 The fruits in bunches whereof will be low and near at hand. 23 [And all who are thus blest will be told:] "Eat and drink with good cheer in return for all [the good deeds] that you have sent ahead in days gone by!" 24 And whoever is given his book in his left hand – he will say, “Alas, if only my account were not given to me!” 25 "And that I had never realised how my account (stood)! 26 Oh, would that this [death of mine] had been the end of me! 27 My wealth has availed me nothing: 28 and our belief has destroyed us". 29 (It will be said): 'Take him and bind him. 30 "And burn ye him in the Blazing Fire. 31 And then insert him in a chain whereof the length is seventy cubits. 32 Indeed, he did not use to believe in Allah, the Most Great, 33 Nor did he urge the feeding of the poor. 34 So there is not for him here this Day any devoted friend 35 "Nor hath he any food except the corruption from the washing of wounds, 36 that none but sinners eat' 37
