The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the forthcoming event does occur. 1 There is no belying its coming to pass-- 2 Abasing (one party), exalting (the other), 3 When the earth is shaken 4 and the mountains fragmented 5 and will scatter abroad into fine dust. 6 and you shall be three bands -- 7 Then (there will be) the Companions of the Right Hand;- What will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 8 And (then) those on the left hand; what of those on the left hand? 9 And those who surpassed have indeed excelled. 10 Who will be honoured 11 In the gardens of bliss. 12 a large group of the early believers, 13 but [only] a few of later times. 14 On thrones decorated, 15 Reclining thereon facing each other. 16 immortal youths going round about them 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of limpid drink. 18 Wherefrom they get no aching of the head nor any madness, 19 And fruits such as they choose, 20 And flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And there will be fair ones large eyed. 22 like hidden pearls, 23 The reward for what they did. 24 Therein they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 only the saying 'Peace, Peace!' 26 The Companions of the Right Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 27 (They will be) among thornless lote-trees, 28 and banana trees, 29 and spreading shade 30 And in perpetually flowing water. 31 and fruits in abundance, 32 never-ending and unrestricted, 33 and upraised couches. 34 and their spouses We shall have brought them into being afresh, 35 having resurrected them as virgins, 36 loving companions, matching in age, 37 for the people of the right hand 38
