Jonah too was one of the Envoys; 139 When he left towards the laden ship. 140 He (agreed to) cast lots, and he was among the losers, 141 So the whale swallowed him, for he was blameworthy, 142 And had he not been of those who hallow Him, 143 he would certainly have remained in its belly till the Day of Resurrection. 144 ۞ But We caused him to be cast forth on to the beach, sick as he was, 145 and caused a creeping plant to grow over him [out of the barren soil]. 146 And We sent him to [his people of] a hundred thousand or more. 147 And they believed; so We gave them enjoyment for a while. 148 (Muhammad), ask them, "Do daughters belong to your Lord and sons to them? 149 Or did We create the angels females while they were witnesses? 150 Now surely it is of their own lie that they say: 151 "Allah has begotten off spring or children (i.e. angels are the daughters of Allah)?" And, verily, they are liars! 152 “Has he chosen daughters instead of sons?” 153 What is the matter with you? How do you decide? 154 Will ye not then receive admonition? 155 Or have ye an authority manifest? 156 Then bring your Book if you are truthful! 157 They have established a kinship between Allah and the angels; and the angels know well that these people will be arraigned (as culprits). 158 Glorified is Allah! (He is Free) from what they attribute unto Him! 159 all of them except the chosen servants of Allah. 160 So, verily you (pagans) and those whom you worship (idols). 161 Can mislead anyone away from Him, 162 Except one who is (destined) to burn in Hell. 163 (Those ranged in ranks say): "Not one of us but has a place appointed; 164 And indeed, we are those who line up [for prayer]. 165 And we are most surely they who declare the glory (of Allah). 166 And there were those who said, 167 “If only we had the Reminder which had been granted to the people of yore 168 we would have been sincere worshipers of Allah' 169 But (now) they disbelieve in it, so they will come to know. 170 And certainly Our word has already gone forth in respect of Our servants, the apostles: 171 That they verily would be made triumphant. 172 And that certainly Our armies will be victorious. 173 So withdraw from them (O Muhammad) awhile, 174 Watch them: they will soon see. 175 What, do they seek to hasten Our chastisement? 176 But when it cometh home to them, then it will be a hapless morn for those who have been warned. 177 So turn away from them for a while. 178 and see, soon they shall see! 179 Purity is to your Lord, the Lord of Honour, from all what they say. 180 Peace be with the Messengers (of God). 181 and all praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Universe. 182
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
End of Surah: The Arrangers (Al-Saaffaat). Sent down in Mecca after Animals (Al-An 'aam) before Luqmaan (Luqmaan)
