The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Event will come to pass 1 no soul will deny its coming. 2 Abasing (some), exalting (others); 3 When the earth is shaken with a shock 4 and the mountains will crumble 5 Turned to dust, floating in the air, 6 And ye are classes three. 7 Those of the right hand -- how (happy) will be those of the right hand! 8 And (as to) the companions of the left hand; how wretched are the companions of the left hand! 9 And the Outstrippers, the Outstrippers 10 They shall be near-stationed (to their Lord), 11 In Gardens of Bliss: 12 A numerous company from among the first, 13 And a few of the later peoples, 14 They (will be seated) on gold-encrusted couches, 15 facing one another. 16 Round about them will (serve) youths of perpetual (freshness), 17 With goblets, (shining) beakers, and cups (filled) out of clear-flowing fountains: 18 Wherefrom they will get neither any aching of the head, nor any intoxication. 19 And fruit that they prefer 20 And the flesh of fowls, any that they may desire. 21 And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes, 22 like the pearls in their shells: 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 Not frivolity will they hear therein, nor any taint of ill,- 25 Nought but the saying: peace! peace! 26 The Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 27 (They will be) among Lote-trees without thorns, 28 And plantains laden with fruit. 29 and continuous shade, 30 and waters gushing, 31 And fruit abundant. 32 Unending, unforbidden, 33 And exalted thrones. 34 for, behold, We shall have brought them into being in a life renewed, 35 And made them virginal, 36 loving companions, matching in age, 37 For the sake of the companions of the right hand. 38
