The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Has there not been over man a period of time, when he was nothing to be mentioned? 1 Verily We! We created man from a sperm of mixtures, that We might prove him, wherefore We made him hearing, seeing. 2 Indeed, We guided him to the way, be he grateful or be he ungrateful. 3 [Now,] behold, for those who deny the truth, We have prepared chains, iron collars and a blazing fire, but 4 Surely the devotees will drink cups flavoured with palm blossoms 5 From a fountain whence the bondmen of Allah will drink, causing it to gush abundantly. 6 Those who fulfil their vows and fear the Day whose evil shall be diffused far and wide, 7 and who give food - however great be their own want of it - unto the needy, and the orphan, and the captive, 8 [saying, in their hearts,] "We feed you for the sake of God alone: we desire no recompense from you, nor thanks: 9 Lo! we fear from our Lord a day of frowning and of fate. 10 But Allah will deliver them from the evil of that Day, and will shed over them a Light of Beauty and (blissful) Joy. 11 and their reward for being patient will be a Garden and silk [clothing]. 12 Reclining there upon couches, they shall see neither the sun nor the moon. 13 And close down upon them (shall be) its shadows, and its fruits shall be made near (to them), being easy to reach. 14 Rounds of silver cups and silver beakers, looking like glass, will be presented upon them. 15 (Transparent as) glass, made of silver; they have measured them according to a measure. 16 And in Paradise they will be given to drink cups, filled with a mixture of ginger. 17 from a fountain called Salsabila. 18 ۞ They will be served by immortal youths who look like scattered pearls. 19 When thou seest, thou wilt see there bliss and high estate. 20 On their bodies will be garments of the finest green silk and brocade, and they will be adorned with bracelets of silver; and their Lord will give them a purest draught to drink. 21 This is your reward. Your endeavour is fully acknowledged. 22
