The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
I CALL TO witness the sky (bespangled) with the signs of the Zodiac, 1 and by the promised Day, 2 And by the witness and that whereunto he beareth testimony, 3 destroyed were the people of the trench, 4 the makers of the fuel-stoked fire! 5 When they sat by it, 6 And to that which they did to the believers were witnesses. 7 They had nothing against them, except that they believed in Allah, the All-Mighty, Worthy of all Praise! 8 To whom belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth. And Allah, over all things, is Witness. 9 Those who persecute the believers, men and women, and then have not repented, there awaits them the chastisement of Gehenna, and there awaits them the chastisement of the burning. 10 Those who believe, and do righteous deeds, for them await gardens underneath which rivers flow; that is the great triumph. 11 The grip of your Lord is severe indeed! 12 Behold, it is He who creates [man] in the first instance, and He [it is who] will bring him forth anew. 13 And He is the Forgiving, the Loving, 14 The Lord of the glorious Throne, 15 Doer of what He will. 16 Have you not heard the story of the hosts 17 Of the Fir'awn and the Thamud? 18 Yet the unbelievers still belie, 19 but all the while God encompasses them [with His knowledge and might] without their being aware of it. 20 Nay, but this [divine writ which they reject] is a discourse sublime, 21 (Preserved) on the guarded tablet. 22
