The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca. First revelation of the Quran before The Pen (Al-Qalam)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Read: In the name of thy Lord Who createth, 1 created Man of a blood-clot. 2 Proclaim! And thy Lord is Most Bountiful,- 3 Who has taught (the writing) by the pen [the first person to write was Prophet Idrees (Enoch)]. 4 taught man what he did not know! 5 And yet, but yet man is rebellious, 6 Because he sees himself self-sufficient. 7 Surely! Unto your Lord is the return. 8 What is your opinion regarding him who forbids 9 a worshipper from praying? 10 Have you seen if he is upon guidance 11 Or enjoined guarding (against evil)? 12 Have you thought that if he denies and turns away, 13 Does he not know that Allah sees? 14 Yes certainly, if he does not desist, We will seize him by the forelock. 15 his lying sinful forelock. 16 Then let him call his associates; 17 We will call the guards of Hell (to deal with him)! 18 Nay! (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him))! Do not obey him (Abu Jahl). Fall prostrate and draw near to Allah! ۩ 19
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
