The Arrangers (Al-Saaffaat)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
I swear by those who draw themselves out in ranks 1 And those who drive [the clouds] 2 and those who recite Our revelations, 3 Lo! thy Lord is surely One; 4 Lord of the heavens and of the earth and all that is between them, and Lord of the sun's risings. 5 Behold, We have adorned the skies nearest to the earth with the beauty of stars, 6 Protecting them against every wayward devil, 7 so they cannot listen to the High Assembly, for they are pelted from every side. 8 Repulsed, for they are under a perpetual penalty, 9 But if anyone does succeed in snatching a glimpse [of such knowledge], he shall be pursued by a piercing flame. 10 So ask them (that is, human beings): “Were they harder to create than the objects We created?” We created them from sticky clay. 11 Rather you are surprised, whereas they keep mocking. 12 And when they are reminded, they mind not, 13 and when they see a miracle, they mock 14 And they say: this Qur'an is naught but magic manifest. 15 What, when we are dead and become dust and bones, shall we indeed be raised up? 16 And so also shall our forefathers of yore be raised to life?” 17 You say: "Yes; and you will be lowly made." 18 There is but one Shout, and lo! they behold, 19 They will say: "Woe to us! This is the Day of Recompense!" 20 [And they will be told:] "This is the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false - the Day] which you were wont to call a lie!" 21
