The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By the Star when it setteth, 1 Your companion [Muhammad] has not strayed, nor has he erred, 2 Nor does he speak of (his own) desire. 3 It is naught but revelation that is revealed, 4 He was taught by [an angel] who is mighty in power, 5 very strong; he stood poised, 6 being on the higher horizon. 7 then he drew near, and became close 8 until he was but two bow-lengths away, or even nearer. 9 So did (Allah) convey the Inspiration to His slave [Muhammad SAW through Jibrael (Gabriel)]. 10 The heart did not lie [about] what it saw. 11 Will you then dispute with him as to what he saw? 12 And assuredly he saw him at another descent. 13 by the lote-tree of the farthest limit, 14 Nigh unto which is the Garden of Abode. 15 When that covered the lote-tree which did cover it! 16 The sight [of the Prophet] did not swerve, nor did it transgress [its limit]. 17 He saw some of the greatest signs of his Lord. 18 Have you then considered the Lat and the Uzza, 19 And subsequently the third, the Manat? 20 Shall you have the male issues, and He the female issues? 21 That indeed is a division unfair! 22 They are naught but names yourselves have named, and your fathers; God has sent down no authority touching them. They follow only surmise, and what the souls desire; and yet guidance has come to them from their Lord. 23 Or shall man have what he coveteth? 24 But it is to Allah that the End and the Beginning (of all things) belong. 25
