Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
O THOU enwrapped one! 1 Stay up the night long save a little 2 (Worship Him) for more or less than half of the night 3 Or increase thereto. And intone the Qur'an with measured intonations. 4 Behold, We shall cast upon thee a weighty word; 5 Surely the rising by night is the firmest way to tread and the best corrective of speech. 6 You have by day prolonged occupations. 7 So remember the name of your Lord and devote yourself to Him with exclusive devotion. 8 Lord of the East and Lord of the West – there is no God except Him, therefore make Him your sole Trustee of affairs. 9 And bear patiently what they say and avoid them with a becoming avoidance. 10 And leave Me and the rejecters, the possessors of ease and plenty, and respite them a little. 11 Surely with Us are heavy fetters and a flaming fire, 12 and a food that chokes, and a grievous chastisement. 13 On the Day the earth and the mountains will convulse and the mountains will become a heap of sand pouring down. 14 Surely We have sent to you a Messenger as a witness over you, just as We had sent a Messenger to Pharaoh. 15 In response Firaun disobeyed the Noble Messenger, so We seized him with a severe seizure. 16 Then how can you fear, if you disbelieve, a Day that will make the children white- haired? 17 The heavens itself will be rent asunder (on that day). His promise is bound to be fulfilled. 18 This, surely, is an admonition. So let him who will, take the right path to his Lord. 19
