The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O you (Prophet Muhamad), the cloaked, 1 Arise and warn, 2 And proclaim the Purity of your Lord. 3 And thy garments keep free from stain! 4 stay away from sins 5 And do not confer favor to acquire more 6 and be patient unto thy Lord. 7 Then, when the Trumpet is sounded (i.e. its second blowing); 8 That shall be - that Day - a day hard. 9 For the disbelievers - not easy. 10 Leave Me with him whom I created alone, 11 and designated for him ample wealth, 12 And sons dwelling in his presence, 13 And made things easy for them. 14 And yet he desires that I should add more! 15 No! Indeed, he has been toward Our verses obstinate. 16 I will constrain him to a hard ascent. 17 Verily, he thought and plotted; 18 And woe to him! How he plotted!- 19 Again, death seize him, how he determined! 20 Then he beheld, 21 and then he frowns and glares, 22 then he retreated and grew proud 23 and said: 'This is no more than traced sorcery; 24 this is nothing but the word of a mere mortal!” 25 I shall make him suffer the torment of hell. 26 And what do you know what Hell is? 27 It shall not spare, nor leave. 28 it scorches the skin; 29 Over it are nineteen (angels guarding). 30 We have appointed only angels to be wardens of the Fire, and their number have We made to be a stumbling-block for those who disbelieve; that those to whom the Scripture hath been given may have certainty, and that believers may increase in faith; and that those to whom the Scripture hath been given and believers may not doubt; and that those in whose hearts there is disease, and disbelievers, may say: What meaneth Allah by this similitude? Thus Allah sendeth astray whom He will, and whom He will He guideth. None knoweth the hosts of thy Lord save Him. This is naught else than a Reminder unto mortals. 31
