The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 About the great news, (i.e. Islamic Monotheism, the Quran, which Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) brought and the Day of Resurrection, etc.), 2 whereupon they are at variance? 3 Nay, they will come to know! 4 Surely, they will soon find out the truth! 5 Did We not make the earth a spreading, 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 and created you in pairs (as men and women), 8 and We made your sleep a rest, 9 and We appointed night for a garment, 10 And We have made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 and built above you seven strong firmaments, 12 And made [therein] a burning lamp 13 and have sent down out of the rainclouds water cascading 14 to make the seeds, plants, 15 and gardens dense with foliage. 16 The Day of Judgment will certainly be the final appointment. 17 The Day when the Trumpet will be blown, and you shall come forth in crowds (groups); 18 and heaven is opened, having gates, 19 And the mountains shall vanish, as if they were a mirage. 20 Indeed, Hell has been lying in wait 21 a home for the transgressors, 22 They will dwell therein for ages. 23 tasting therein neither coolness nor any drink 24 Except boiling water and benumbing cold: 25 Recompense fitted! 26 Surely they feared not the account, 27 But they belied Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, and that which Our Prophet (Peace be upon him) brought) completely. 28 We have kept account of everything in a book. 29 Taste therefore. We shall not increase you in aught but torment. 30
