He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 because the blind man approached him! 2 But what could tell you that per chance he might become pure (from sins)? 3 or have been reminded [of the truth,] and helped by this reminder. 4 Now as for him who believes himself to be self-sufficient 5 So you are after him! 6 though you will not be questioned even if he never purifies himself. 7 But as to him who came to thee striving earnestly, 8 and who has fear of God, 9 Of him you are neglectful and divert your attention to another, 10 No indeed; this is only a Reminder. 11 So whosoever willeth - let him be admonished therewlth. 12 On honoured leaves 13 Exalted, pure. 14 [Carried] by the hands of messenger-angels, 15 Noble and dutiful. 16 Perish the human! How unthankful he is! 17 From what did He create him? 18 From a sperm-drop: He hath created him, and then mouldeth him in due proportions; 19 Then doth He make His path smooth for him; 20 Then He causes him to die, then assigns to him a grave, 21 then, He will raise him when He wills. 22 No indeed! Man has not accomplished His bidding. 23 Let man, then, consider [the sources of] his food: 24 It is We Who pour forth water, pouring, 25 and then We cleaved the earth asunder. 26 And We made corn grow, 27 grapes, and fresh fodder, 28 olives, dates, 29 And gardens, dense with many trees, 30 fruits, and grass. 31 as provision for you and for your cattle to enjoy. 32 And when the Blast shall sound, 33 upon the day when a man shall flee from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father, 35 And his wife and his sons; 36 Every man that day will have concern enough to make him heedless (of others). 37 on that Day some faces will be beaming, 38 laughing, rejoicing at glad tidings. 39 And many will be dust-begrimed, 40 and covered by darkness. 41 Such will be the Kafarah (disbelievers in Allah, in His Oneness, and in His Messenger Muhammad (Peace be upon him), etc.), the Fajarah (wicked evil doers). 42
