The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
When the sun Kuwwirat (wound round and lost its light and is overthrown). 1 The stars turn dim and scatter, 2 And when the mountains are made to pass away, 3 And when milch camels roam abandoned. 4 the wild beasts are herded together, 5 when the seas shall be set boiling, 6 when the souls shall be rejoined (with their bodies), 7 when the buried female infant is asked 8 Upon what sin was she killed for. 9 when the scrolls shall be unrolled, 10 when heaven is stripped, 11 And when Hellfire is set ablaze 12 And when the garden is brought nigh, 13 [on that Day] every human being will come to know what he has prepared [for himself]. 14 I swear by the receding stars. 15 Go straight, or hide; 16 The closing night, 17 and the morn as it breathes. 18 This is indeed the recitation of an honoured Noble Messenger. (Angel Jibreel – peace and blessings be upon him.) 19 Owner of strength, of established dignity with the Lord of the Throne. 20 The one who is obeyed, and trustworthy. (Other angels obey angel Jibreel). 21 Your Companion is not mad, 22 Assuredly he beheld him in the horizon manifest. 23 He is not chary of making public what is unknown. 24 Nor is this the word of an outcast devil. 25 Where to are you then heading? 26 This is a reminder for all the peoples of the world, 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Sustainer of all the worlds, wills [to show you that way]. 29
