Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Have you received the news of the Enveloper? 1 On that day the faces of some people will be humbly cast down, 2 Labouring (hard), weary,- 3 They shall roast into the scalding Fire, 4 Given to drink of a spring fiercely boiling. 5 No food for them save bitter thorn-fruit 6 Which will neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 (Other) faces on that day shall be happy, 8 Rejoicing over their efforts. 9 They shall be in a Garden lofty: 10 In which they will not hear any lewd speech. 11 Within it is a flowing spring. 12 Wherein are couches raised 13 And cups put in place 14 Cushions arranged, 15 And linen spread out. 16 Do they not then ponder how the clouds were formed; 17 And at the Sky, how it is raised high?- 18 how the mountains are set firm, 19 And the earth – how it has been spread out? 20 Therefore do remind, for you are only a reminder. 21 you are not their keeper. 22 Except whoever turns away and disbelieves – 23 So Allah will mete out to him the greatest punishment. 24 Certainly, it is to Us that they will return. 25 and then it is for Us to call them to account. 26
