The prople of Lout (Lot) (those dwelt in the towns of Sodom in Palestine) belied the Messengers. 160 when their brother Lot said to them, 'Will you not be godfearing? 161 Verily I am unto you an apostle trusted. 162 "So fear Allah, keep your duty to Him, and obey me. 163 I seek of you no reward. My reward is with none but the Lord of the Universe. 164 "Go you in unto the males of the 'Alamin (mankind), 165 “And leave the wives your Lord has created for you? In fact you are people who exceed the limits.” 166 They said: "O Lot! If you do not desist, you will be one of those expelled (from our towns)." 167 (Lot) said: "I am disgusted with your actions," 168 “My Lord, rescue me and my family from their deeds.” 169 So We delivered him and his family,- all 170 Save an old woman among those who stayed behind. 171 Thereafter We annihilated the rest. 172 We rained down on them a shower (of brimstone): and evil was the shower on those who were admonished (but heeded not)! 173 In this [story,] behold, there is a message [unto men,] even though most of them will not believe [in it]. 174 And verily! Your Lord, He is indeed the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. 175
