The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Event inevitable cometh to pass, 1 Then will no (soul) entertain falsehood concerning its coming. 2 It will bring down [some] and raise up [others]. 3 When the earth is shaken violently, 4 and the mountains will crumble 5 Becoming dust scattered abroad, 6 [on that Day] you shall be divided into three groups. 7 (First) those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 8 And (then) those on the left hand; what of those on the left hand? 9 Then the foremost, how pre-excellent, 10 (The foremost ones) will be the nearest ones to God 11 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise). 12 Many of them will be from the ancient people 13 And a few of later ages, 14 On thrones woven [with ornament], 15 reclining upon them, facing one another [in love]. 16 Youths of never-ending bloom will pass round to them 17 Cups and decanters, beakers full of sparkling wine, 18 (no brows throbbing, no intoxication) 19 with fruits of their own choice 20 and such flesh of fowl as they desire, 21 And pure, beautiful ones, 22 like unto pearls [still] hidden in their shells. 23 as reward for their deeds. 24 Therein they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 But only the saying of: Salam!, Salam! (greetings with peace)! 26 The Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 27 They will be in (the shade) of thornless lote 28 Bananatrees, piled 29 And shade extended 30 and waters gushing, 31 And fruit in plenty, 32 Whose season is not limited, and their supply will not be cut off, 33 And on Thrones (of Dignity), raised high. 34 Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation. 35 And made them virginal, 36 chaste, loving companions of the same age 37 for the people of the right hand 38
