The Human (Al-Insan)
31 verses, revealed in Medina after The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman) before Divorce (Al-Talaaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Has there [not] come upon man a period of time when he was not a thing [even] mentioned? 1 We created the human being from the union of sperm and egg to test him. We gave him hearing and vision. 2 Indeed, We guided him to the way, be he grateful or be he ungrateful. 3 For the Rejecters we have prepared chains, yokes, and a blazing Fire. 4 the righteous shall drink from a cup mixed with the coolness of kafur, 5 a spring from which God's servants will drink, making it gush forth in branches. 6 These will be the ones who fulfil their vows and dread the Day whose woe shall be spread far and wide; 7 And feed with food the needy wretch, the orphan and the prisoner, for love of Him, 8 [saying, in their hearts,] "We feed you for the sake of God alone: we desire no recompense from you, nor thanks: 9 Truly, we fear from our Lord a woefully grim Day." 10 Wherefore Allah shall preserve them from the evil of that Day, and shall cause them to meet brightness and joy. 11 and will reward them for all their patience in adversity with a garden [of bliss] and with [garments of] silk. 12 therein they shall recline upon couches, therein they shall see neither sun nor bitter cold; 13 And the shades of the (Garden) will come low over them, and the bunches (of fruit), there, will hang low in humility. 14 And amongst them will be passed round vessels of silver and cups of crystal, 15 crystal-like, [but] of silver - the measure whereof they alone will determine. 16 And they will be given to drink there of a Cup (of Wine) mixed with Zanjabil,- 17 [From] a fountain within Paradise named Salsabeel. 18 ۞ And round about them shall go youths never altering in age; when you see them you will think them to be scattered pearls. 19 And when you see there, you shall see blessings and a great kingdom. 20 On their bodies will be garments of the finest green silk and brocade, and they will be adorned with bracelets of silver; and their Lord will give them a purest draught to drink. 21 Behold, this is a recompense for you, and your striving is thanked.' 22
