The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
CONSIDER those [stars] that rise only to set, 1 And who softly release the soul. (Of the believer) 2 And [by] those who glide [as if] swimming 3 Then press forward as in a race, 4 And who plan the implementation. 5 One Day everything that can be in commotion will be in violent commotion, 6 And the second followeth it, 7 hearts will throb on that Day 8 and their eyes shall be downcast with dread. 9 They say (now): "What! shall we indeed be returned to (our) former state? 10 What, when we are bones old and wasted?' 11 They said: That then would be a return occasioning loss. 12 But it shall be only a single cry, 13 And lo! they all shall appear on the surface. 14 (Muhammad), have you heard the story of Moses 15 When his Lord called upon him in the holy valley, twice, 16 (Saying:) Go thou unto Pharaoh - Lo! he hath rebelled - 17 And say (unto him): Hast thou (will) to grow (in grace)? 18 ‘And I may guide you to your Lord, so that you may fear.’” 19 Then Moses (went to Pharaoh and) showed him the Great Sign; 20 But (Pharaoh) rejected it and disobeyed (guidance); 21 then he turned away hastily, 22 Then he collected (his men) and made a proclamation, 23 “I am the supreme lord of you all.” 24 Allah therefore seized him, in the punishment of this world and the Hereafter. 25 In this, behold, there is a lesson indeed for all who stand in awe [of God]. 26
