The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
WOE UNTO THOSE who give short measure: 1 those who, when they are to receive their due from [other] people, demand that it be given in full 2 But when they measure out to others or weigh out for them, they are deficient. 3 Do they not realise that they will be raised to life 4 For a tremendous Day - 5 the Day when all men shall stand before the Sustainer of all the worlds? 6 Nay, but the record of the vile is in Sijjin - 7 And what do you know, how (wretched) the Sijjeen is! 8 (It is) a marked Book. 9 Woe on that Day to those who belied it, 10 those who give the lie to the [coming of] Judgment Day: 11 And none deny it except every sinful transgressor. 12 who, when listening to Our revelations, say, "These are only ancient legends". 13 No indeed! Their own deeds have cast a veil over their hearts. 14 Nay! most surely they shall on that day be debarred from their Lord. 15 Then verily they will be roasted into the Scorch. 16 They will then be told: "This is what you had denied." 17 However, the records of the deeds of the virtuous ones will certainly be in Illiyin. 18 and what shall teach thee what is Illiyun? 19 A book inscribed, 20 which the angels placed near Allah to safeguard. 21 Verily the virtuous shall be in Delight, 22 On Thrones (of Dignity) will they command a sight (of all things): 23 On their faces you will see the glow of beatitude. 24 They will be given a drink of pure wine whereon the seal [of God] will have been set, 25 its seal will be of musk -- for this let the aspirants aspire -- 26 and whose mixture is Tasnim, 27 A spring from which those near [to Allah] drink. 28 The wicked used to laugh at the believers -- 29 And when they passed by them, they winked at one another. 30 And when they returned to their own people, they would return jesting; 31 On seeing the believers, they would say, "These people have gone astray". 32 But they (disbelievers, sinners) had not been sent as watchers over them (the believers). 33 So, the believers will laugh at the infidels on that day, 34 On high couches, gazing. 35 Have the unbelievers been rewarded what they were doing? 36
