When the Messengers came to the family of Lot, 61 He said: "Ye appear to be uncommon folk." 62 They replied, "We have come to you about the matter which the (unbelievers) have rejected. 63 We have come to thee with the truth, and assuredly we speak truly. 64 So travel with thy household in a portion of the night, and follow thou their backs. Let none of you turn round, but go whither ye are commanded. 65 We informed him that the unbelievers would be utterly destroyed. 66 And the people of the city came, rejoicing at the news (of new arrivals). 67 He said: verily these are my guests, so disgrace me not. 68 Have fear of Allah, and do not humiliate me." 69 They replied, "Did we not forbid you to bring anyone to your house?" 70 He said: These are my daughters, if you will do (aught). 71 By thy life (O Muhammad) they moved blindly in the frenzy of approaching death. 72 An explosion struck them at sunrise. 73 We laid it (the city) upside down and rained stones of baked clay upon them. 74 Surely! In this are signs, for those who see (or understand or learn the lessons from the Signs of Allah). 75 it is still there on the highway -- 76 In this there is evidence (of the Truth) for the believers. 77 And the dwellers in the wood indeed were evil-doers. 78 So We inflicted retribution on them, and they are both, indeed, on an open road (still) pursued. 79
