Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Certainly the news of the calamity that will overwhelm has come to you! 1 Some faces will on that Day be downcast, 2 Toiling, weary, 3 They will suffer the heat of the blazing fire 4 The while they are given, to drink, of a boiling hot spring, 5 No food shall be theirs save bitter thorn, 6 which will neither fatten them nor satisfy them. 7 Many a face will be in serenity on that day. 8 With their endeavour well pleased. 9 in a sublime garden, 10 wherein they shall hear no vain talk. 11 Wherein is a gushing spring, 12 therein uplifted couches 13 and prepared goblets, 14 and cushions arrayed 15 And carpets ready spread, 16 So do they not see the camel – how it has been created? 17 and on the sky, how it is raised aloft, 18 how the mountains are set firm, 19 And at the earth - how it is spread out? 20 Admonish thou then; thou art but an admonisher. 21 thou canst not compel them [to believe]. 22 But he who turns his back, and disbelieves, 23 Him Allah shall torment with the greatest torment. 24 Indeed, to Us is their return. 25 Then verily, for Us will be their reckoning. 26
