[AND] the dwellers of the wooded dales [of Madyan] gave the lie to [one of God's] message-bearers 176 Behold, Shu'aib said to them: "Will ye not fear (Allah)? 177 "I am a trustworthy Messenger to you. 178 So fear Allah, and obey me. 179 "No reward do I ask of you for it (my Message of Islamic Monotheism), my reward is only from the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists). 180 ۞ "Give just measure, and cause no loss (to others by fraud). 181 Weigh on an even balance. 182 And defraud not people of their things, and commit not corruption on the earth. 183 Have fear of the One who has created you and the generations that lived before you." 184 They said: "Thou art only one of those bewitched! 185 You are but a man like ourselves, and indeed, we think you are among the liars. 186 So cause thou a fragment of the heaven to fall upon us, if thou art of the truth-tellers. 187 He said: "My Lord is the Best Knower of what you do." 188 They rejected him and then the torment of the gloomy day struck them. It was certainly a great torment. 189 Surely there is a Sign in this, but most of them would not believe. 190 And verily thy Lord! He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 191
